An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck the Aegean Sea west of Turkey today, Friday, according to a statement from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD). The earthquake occurred at 17:14 local time (14:14 UTC). The statement indicated that the epicenter of the earthquake is located 216 kilometers away from the town of Çeşme, in the western Turkish province of İzmir, and occurred at a depth of 9.94 kilometers.
