Israel Strikes in Syria

The Israeli army announced early today that it has carried out strikes in Syria following the launch of two rockets at Israeli-controlled territory. The Israeli army stated in a brief message: "Two rockets from Syria fell in a barren area. The army struck the sources of fire." In response to a question from AFP, the Israeli army confirmed that the projectiles that were launched were rockets, but did not specify the exact location where they fell. Israel occupied parts of the Golan Heights in the June 1967 war and declared them annexed in 1981, a move not recognized by the United Nations.
