Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in remarks published early Thursday morning that "the NATO summit has provided Ukraine with a security foundation that has never been achieved before and set it on the path towards joining the alliance." In his nighttime video address, Zelensky said, "This is extremely important. For the first time since our independence, there is a security foundation for Ukraine’s aspiration to join the alliance." He added, "These concrete security guarantees were confirmed by the seven largest democracies in the world. We have never had such a security basis at the level of the G7." Zelensky reiterated statements he made at the Lithuania summit, in which he said, "We have removed any doubts or ambiguities about whether Ukraine will join the alliance or not. It will join."
