The Chinese Energy Engineering Group announced the commencement of operations for the first experimental high-altitude wind power generation project in China, connected to the national power grid, located in Jishi County, Anhui Province. The project is characterized by its ability to harness wind energy at altitudes ranging from 500 to 3000 meters, with a total capacity of 4.8 megawatts. The project utilizes technology that employs a canopy raised by a helium balloon to heights exceeding 500 meters, where it intersects with strong winds, and then converts the movement of the wind-driven canopy into electrical energy via a cable connected to a generator on the ground. The project includes two main technologies for high-altitude power generation, one in space and one on the ground.
