The Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture reported today, Monday, that "grain exports in the first days of July, the first month of the new season which lasts until June 2024, amounted to only 34,000 tons, which is half the quantity during the same period in 2022." The statement mentioned that "the quantity in the new season included so far 9,000 tons of wheat and 25,000 tons of corn." Exports in the entire previous season reached approximately 49 million tons, exceeding the quantity of the prior season which was 48.4 million. The Ukrainian Association of Leading Companies in the Agriculture and Food Sector stated, "The former Soviet republic exported a total of 3.8 million tons of grains and 513,500 tons of vegetable oils in June, which was the last month of the previous marketing year." About 2 million tons, nearly half the quantity, were shipped abroad from the Black Sea ports under an agreement mediated by the United Nations and Turkey last July to address a global food crisis exacerbated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the blockade of its ports.
