The police announced that a shooting occurred during Halloween celebrations early Sunday morning near a series of bars and clubs in Tampa, Florida, resulting in at least two deaths and 18 injuries. The police added that a fight broke out between two groups around 3 a.m. in the historic Ybor City neighborhood while hundreds of people were crowding the streets after the clubs and bars had closed, but they fled for safety when the gunfire began.
Videos on social media platform "X" showed a chaotic scene of crowds running in the streets amidst the sound of at least 12 gunshots. The videos also showed police rushing to assist victims who were bleeding on the sidewalks. A report from the Tampa police stated, "Investigations are still in the early stages, but evidence suggests that a brawl broke out between two groups, escalating into gunfire, which resulted in one man's death at the scene and 19 victims being transported to nearby hospitals." The police added that one victim died in the hospital.
One person was arrested early Sunday, and the police are searching for others believed to be involved in the shooting incident.
