A Houthi official in Yemen announced today, Monday, that the group will expand its targets to include American ships. Nasser al-Din Amer, the spokesperson for the Houthis, told Al Jazeera, "It is not necessarily required for the ship to be headed to Israel for us to target it; it is sufficient for it to be American." He mentioned that the United States "is on the verge of losing its maritime security." Amer stated that British and American ships have become "legitimate targets" due to the strikes that the two countries launched on Yemen last week. The British maritime security company Ambrey reported that a cargo vessel owned by the United States was hit by a missile near the port of Aden in Yemen, causing a fire onboard without any injuries.
