Singapore Prime Minister: Ruling Party Negatively Affected by Recent Scandals

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong indicated on Wednesday that the ruling party he belongs to "has been negatively affected by a series of scandals, including misconduct and the resignation of some senior members of the House, which has caused shock in Singapore, known as a haven for political stability." He stated, "Transport Minister S. Iswaran, who is under investigation by the anti-corruption agency, has been barred from carrying out his duties, and his salary has been reduced to 8,500 Singapore dollars per month, until further notice." Lee added, "Such incidents involving ministers are rare, and the ruling People's Action Party never tolerates corruption." He noted that "upon completion of the investigation, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau will present its findings to the Attorney General's Chambers, which will decide how to proceed."
