Prime Minister Najib Mikati met yesterday evening at the Grand Serail with Lebanese economic bodies headed by former Minister Mohammad Shuqair to discuss the latest developments in the country and the challenges facing the national economy and various economic sectors.
After Shuqair praised Mikati's internal and external initiatives and the crucial role he plays in safeguarding Lebanon from the ravages of war, an in-depth discussion took place regarding the significant difficulties faced by the private sector due to the deterioration of conditions in the south, the war in Gaza, and the overwhelming pressures arising from the tax provisions included in the draft budget for 2024 and other tax-related bills.
Both parties agreed to continue consultations and coordination on the topics discussed and emphasized the need for tax projects to be based on an economic vision aimed at stimulating the economy and achieving economic growth to accomplish the desired goals.
On another note, Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, earlier today at the Grand Serail, where they reviewed current developments and bilateral relations between the two countries.
