The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces — Public Relations Division reported that "on August 12, a minor (Z. Z. born in 2014, Lebanese), who has special needs, was brought to a hospital in the Marjayoun area deceased. Upon examination of the body by the forensic doctor, it was stated that the cause of death was due to air in the pleura, in addition to bruises all over her body. Following this, the Internal Security Forces began field and investigative measures to determine the circumstances of the death. The follow-up revealed that the girl was admitted to the hospital due to a sharp rise in temperature and was discharged after her father signed an undertaking to take her out at his own responsibility. He was suspected of having beaten his daughter, leading to her death, identified as: Q. Z. (born in 1983, Lebanese).
On the same day, one of the information division patrols was able to arrest him in the town of Dbayeh. Upon investigation, he admitted that his daughter has special needs and suffers from paralysis and severe malnutrition, and that he had beaten her several times to quiet her crying, but denied having assaulted her. In listening to the wife's testimony, she confirmed her husband’s account and pledged to take care of their other children. Legal measures were taken against the father and he was referred to the competent authority based on judicial direction."
