A conflict between two young men in the town of Abiyyeh, in the Aley district, escalated into gunfire, resulting in the death of one of the young men. It has been circulated that the dispute was related to a piece of land. A military force has been deployed in the town. In a statement, Ghassan Khoury, the mayor of Abiyyeh, along with the town's residents, condemned "the tragic incident that led to the murder of the town's victim, Hisham Hamza." They confirmed that "the dispute, which resulted in the loss of our dear deceased, was an individual and personal disagreement, with no political, partisan, or sectarian implications whatsoever." They urged the "competent judiciary to achieve justice." They noted that "the residents of the town, representing all its spiritual families, constitute the extended family of our dear deceased and stand by his small family, his wife, children, siblings, cousins, and all their families, showing solidarity with them."
