Russian news agency Interfax reported that "Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today that the country needs a new constitution to enhance its democratic aspirations." The agency quoted Pashinyan during a meeting at the Ministry of Justice, stating, "We must have a constitution that makes the Republic of Armenia more competitive and resilient amid new geopolitical and regional conditions." The agency noted that Pashinyan, who was a long-time leader of the liberal opposition and came to power due to the 2018 revolution that toppled the previous ruling elite, emphasized the necessity of doing everything possible to enhance Armenia's legitimacy.
