Cocaine Seized at Beirut Airport

The passenger customs department at Rafic Hariri International Airport seized 7.9 kilograms of cocaine this morning, which was hidden in a double bottom of the luggage belonging to J. A. M., a Lebanese national arriving from Brazil. He has a history of drug smuggling offenses and had previously been imprisoned in Lebanon for six years before being released about a year ago. Following a review by the Public Prosecution Office, the detainee and the seized drugs were referred to the Central Drug Control Office in Beirut for legal proceedings.
