A spokesperson for Nippon Yusen, Japan's largest shipping company by sales volume, confirmed to Reuters that the company has suspended the passage of all its vessels through the Red Sea as of today, Tuesday. The spokesperson noted that "the company, also known as NYK Line, has simultaneously instructed its ships sailing near the Red Sea to wait in safe waters while considering altering their routes." The Japanese shipping giant has become the latest to join global shipping companies that have halted navigation through the Red Sea following advice from the Combined Maritime Forces "Guardian of Prosperity" to avoid the area after U.S. and British strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen.
