French President Emmanuel Macron announced today, Tuesday, that his country will begin supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles to assist in its defense. Upon arriving to participate in the NATO summit in Lithuania, he stated, "We have decided to increase shipments of weapons and equipment to enable Ukrainians to have the capacity to carry out deep strikes while maintaining our conviction to allow Ukraine to defend its territory."
A French military source noted that "France has started delivering a significant number of SCALP cruise missiles to Ukraine, which will be integrated into non-Western military aircraft." The source emphasized that "the missiles have a range of 250 kilometers and will be used only within Ukraine's internationally recognized borders." He added, "Paris does not consider this an escalation of the war, given that Russia is launching missiles with a much greater range."
