Wave of Anger Following Settlers Spitting on Christian Clergy in Jerusalem

The incident involving a Christian cleric being spat upon by Israeli settlers at the entrance of the Tomb of David in Jerusalem has sparked widespread Palestinian anger. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the incident, stating in a statement today, Sunday, that "this assault is colonial and racist, reflecting a culture of hatred and animosity, as well as a denial of the other's existence. It illustrates the extent of incitement and racial mobilization that elements of extremist colonial and settlement organizations receive, whether through religious schools or the fatwas of extremist rabbis." Father Nikodemus Schnabel, the head of the Benedictine monks, was subjected to the assault and was insulted with vulgar language.
