Norwegian Erling Haaland, Manchester City striker, has offered to cover the expenses for fans of his former team Brine, competing in the Norwegian second division, to attend a playoff match scheduled for next Saturday. Brine, the team where Haaland began his career, is participating in the playoffs for the first time since 2006 to compete for a spot in the top league. Haaland (23) will bear the travel costs for around 200 fans by train, totaling approximately 175,000 Norwegian krone (16,000 dollars). Bjorn Hagerud Roken, the marketing director at Brine, said to TV2, "It’s financially tough times for people, and it’s hard for them to prioritize traveling for such a match." He added, "So this has given more fans the opportunity to travel."
