Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived today, Saturday, in the Egyptian capital on an official visit, at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, where he was welcomed at the airport by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. This two-day visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first of its kind to Egypt since he took office in 2014. During the visit, Modi is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with several senior Egyptian officials and will also meet with members of the Indian community in Cairo.
Earlier, the Indian Prime Minister expressed his excitement about visiting Egypt, this friendly country, for the first time, stating: "It was a pleasure for us to host President Sisi as a guest of honor at our Republic Day celebrations this year."
He continued: "These two visits, just a few months apart, reflect our rapidly evolving partnership with Egypt, which has been upgraded to a strategic partnership during President Sisi's visit." He expressed his anticipation for discussions with President Sisi and senior officials in the Egyptian government to give more momentum to their multifaceted civilizational partnership, and he will also have the opportunity to engage with the vibrant Indian community in Egypt.
It is noteworthy that at the beginning of this year, Egyptian-Indian relations advanced to a new stage, moving from historical ties and diplomatic relations of over 75 years to a "strategic partnership" between two of the world's oldest civilizations. This strategic partnership was announced by both sides during President Sisi's historic visit to New Delhi, where he was the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations.
