Jahjah Meets Shia in Farewell Visit

The leader of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Jaafar, welcomed the United States Ambassador to Lebanon, Dorothy Shia, in a farewell visit accompanied by the political advisor at the embassy, Meghan Sollar, in the presence of the former Minister of Foreign Relations Richard Kiyumjian and official Mark Saad.

Jaafar expressed his gratitude to Shia for her efforts and the support of the United States for Lebanese institutions. He emphasized that Lebanon faced a dangerous test last week, which could have led to unexpected outcomes, but "thank God" it succeeded in avoiding a fall due to efforts made within the Parliament that averted a vacuum at the level of military leadership and restored confidence in its pivotal role in protecting Lebanon's sovereignty and independence.

He noted that it would be great if "this constructive parliamentary atmosphere" could extend to the presidential elections and become a positive momentum that leads to the assembly of the Parliament in open sessions, resulting in the election of a genuine president for the country who has the ability to revive institutions and restore hope in the hearts of the Lebanese people.

Jaafar wished Shia all the best in her new mission and hoped that the United States would continue its support for Lebanon and its institutions, especially military institutions, which are relied upon primarily in the coming phase.
