The caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed that "we have started preparing for long-term stability in the south, and we strive to spare Lebanon from war and its consequences." In an interview with Al-Hadath channel, he pointed out that "Lebanon should be away from any escalation, and we call for a long-term calm and stability on the southern border," stressing that "the decision for peace is in the hands of the Lebanese state, and war is a loss for everyone," noting that "Hezbollah responds to Israeli provocations." Mikati said: "We cannot bear a war and are committed to international resolutions, and there is no link between what is happening in the south and the presidential elections."
