The Importance of Forming Local Councils in Iraq

The leader of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, and the Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq Movement, Qais al-Khazali, emphasized today, Friday, the importance of forming local councils in accordance with the government's agenda. According to a statement from al-Hakim's media office, "This morning, we received Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, and we exchanged views regarding the developments in the political scene, forthcoming entitlements, and ways to support the government in implementing its program and providing services."

Both parties praised the "success of the local elections," valuing "the positions and efforts made to ensure their success, foremost among them the stance of the government, the commission, and the security forces." They affirmed "the importance of forming local councils based on a service-oriented vision that aligns with the government's agenda, along with the need to empower competent and honest figures to manage the provinces."

Regarding the Palestinian issue, al-Hakim and al-Khazali reiterated the call for "a ceasefire, ending humanitarian suffering, and opening the crossings," urging the nations of the world to "bear their responsibilities towards the ongoing genocide against an unarmed people, the majority of whom are women and children."
