The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has allocated $7.8 billion for investments aimed at hosting "Expo 2030" in the capital, Riyadh. Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih stated, "The budget for the exhibition is $7.8 billion, which is a catalyst for our broader investment plans in Riyadh, and as part of Saudi Vision 2030, which targets national investments exceeding $3.3 trillion by the end of the decade."
He added, "The exhibition will be a global hub for both local and international companies to meet and explore investment development topics, through the 'Global Investment Lab' that the Kingdom will launch, which will be a global center for innovation. We will also launch a procurement center that facilitates participants in designing, implementing, and constructing their pavilions at the exhibition, so we can collaboratively build the Expo of the world for the world."
Saudi Arabia became the first country to present its official bid to host the exhibition on Tuesday during the general assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau in Paris, France. The Saudi Press Agency reported that the Kingdom’s delegation showcased the master plan for the Riyadh "Expo 2030," which it states "aims to create an exceptional global experience in the history of Expos, embodying the exhibition's main theme, 'Together, We Anticipate the Future.'"
The city selected to host the "International Expo 2030" will be announced during the next meeting of the general assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau, which will be held in November 2023, after a secret ballot where each member state of the bureau has one vote.
