Expected Agreement to Extend the Ceasefire for 6 Months Between the Yemeni Government and the Houthis

A Yemeni official revealed today, Thursday, that an agreement has been reached between the Yemeni government and the Houthis to extend the ceasefire in the country. The official, who preferred to remain unnamed, informed the German news agency that Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman communicated to the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council the Houthis' acceptance of the ceasefire extension, following previous discussions mediated by Oman.

He added that Khalid bin Salman informed Council President Rashad Al-Alimi and council members that the ceasefire would be expanded for an initial period of 6 months, encompassing several provisions, including the resumption of oil exports and the payment of salaries to employees across Yemen, including areas under Houthi control, as well as the reopening of Sana'a International Airport for additional international destinations.

Earlier, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman discussed with Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi in Riyadh the efforts being made to reach a comprehensive political solution to end the Yemeni crisis.
