Argentinian star Lionel Messi, who plays for Inter Miami in the United States, declined an invitation to appear on a special Champions League program broadcast by CBS Sports in Miami last Wednesday. According to the show's host, Kate Abdo, Messi's refusal was due to the presence of former Liverpool defender and legend, Jamie Carragher, on the program.
Carragher revealed last year that Messi sent him a private message on Instagram after Carragher criticized his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, where the Argentine legend referred to him as a "donkey." It seems Messi is not ready to forgive the former English defender for his past criticisms, as he refused to sit in the same space as Carragher.
Kate Abdo stated in the program: "You know we officially invited Inter Miami and asked Messi to attend the show; do you know what the official response was?" She added, "It is clear that Lionel Messi will not appear on any television programs that Jamie Carragher is a part of."
For his part, Carragher mentioned that he sees Messi's refusal to attend the program as a "reminder of his fame" before asking the audience if they would prefer to see him in the program instead of the Argentine star.
