Emergency Declared in Florida as

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in the southeastern United States as storm "Ian," coming from the Caribbean Sea, approaches the state. DeSantis urged Florida residents to prepare for the storm, which was initially expected to impact only 20 counties, but the warning was issued statewide on Saturday. He stated, "This storm has the potential to become a major hurricane, and we encourage Florida residents to prepare," indicating coordination with local government entities to monitor potential impacts.

U.S. President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency for Florida, requesting the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate disaster relief efforts and provide the necessary assistance to protect lives and property. The National Hurricane Center predicts that "Ian" will strengthen over the coming days, reaching Florida by mid-week, and urged residents to monitor updates on the storm's path.

It is expected that Ian could become a major hurricane on Monday, with wind speeds reaching 75 km/h as observed about 370 km south of Jamaica. John Cangialosi from the Miami Hurricane Center stated, "It is still unclear where Ian will make landfall strongly in Florida," urging residents to gather supplies and prepare for possible power outages.
