CNN reported that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken acknowledged existing disagreements within the State Department regarding President Joe Biden's administration approach to the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. CNN quoted Blinken in an email to State Department staff, which the network obtained, stating, "Some members of the department may disagree with the approach we are taking or have opinions on what could be improved." He added, "Many Palestinian civilians have lost their lives and much more can and should be done to reduce their suffering," according to the Arab News Agency. The U.S. Secretary of State continued, "We believe in a Palestinian-led governance in Gaza, unified with the West Bank." He mentioned that "the reconstruction of Gaza should be supported by a sustainable mechanism."

In a post on the platform "X" today, the U.S. Secretary of State stated that the United States is focused on reducing the harm inflicted on Palestinians due to the Israeli bombing in Gaza and on bringing back the hostages from his country. Blinken added during statements at the conclusion of a 9-day diplomatic trip where he visited Israel, "We are focusing on setting the conditions for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East."
