Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica has announced an agreement with Starlink, the satellite internet service owned by billionaire Elon Musk, to provide internet service to customers in rural and remote areas. The company stated in a communiqué that the agreement with Starlink will allow Telefónica to offer customers wide-ranging satellite internet access in areas where service is unavailable through other means, including vehicles. Telefónica is already offering the service to its customers in Mexico and will expand its availability to other regions starting with Peru, Colombia, Chile, Brazil, and Spain. Starlink service consists of a network of satellites operated by Musk's SpaceX.
