EU Foreign Policy Commissioner Josep Borrell stated that "the conflict in the Middle East has begun to affect the EU's support for Ukraine." After a lengthy discussion about the conflict in the Middle East, Borrell said in a speech delivered at a conference of EU member state ambassadors in Brussels: "We do not forget Ukraine." He added, "Both wars are completely different, but we must honestly say that the crisis in the Middle East is indeed having a long-term impact on our policy towards Ukraine." Borrell also urged EU member state ambassadors to "fight tirelessly around the world" against the view that Brussels' actions in Ukraine and Israel reflect a policy of double standards.
