Erdogan: Turkey Awaits U.S. Step on F-16 Sales

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Friday that "Turkey is waiting for the next step from the United States regarding Ankara's request to purchase F-16 fighter jets and modernization equipment following the ratification of Sweden's NATO membership application." Speaking to reporters in Istanbul after the Turkish parliament ratified Sweden's request to join the Western military alliance, Erdogan mentioned that "the foreign minister is working in close coordination with his American counterpart on this matter." Erdogan told a television station live on Friday: "We are waiting for this."
