The Supreme Judicial Council announced today, Thursday, the issuance of three life imprisonment sentences against drug dealers for the crime of drug trafficking. The council stated in a statement: "The Central Criminal Court issued three life imprisonment sentences against drug dealers for the crime of drug trafficking." It pointed out that "two of the convicted were found in possession of 2 kilograms and 530 grams of amphetamine, in addition to other drugs, cash amounts, and various weapons." The statement further noted that "the third convicted individual was found with 400 grams of amphetamine intended for trafficking and selling to users." It continued that "the issued sentences were based on Article 28, first paragraph, of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017, and in accordance with Articles 47, 48, and 49 of the Penal Code."
