Greece Sends Frigate to the Red Sea to Protect Navigation

Greece announced today, Thursday, that it will "send a naval frigate to the Red Sea to protect navigation following attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthi group in Yemen." Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias stated in a statement: "The frigate will participate in the multilateral operation 'Guardian of Prosperity' to protect commercial vessels, the lives of sailors, and the global economy." The United States launched, on Tuesday, a multilateral operation to protect trade in the Red Sea after Houthi attacks forced major shipping companies to alter their vessels' routes.
