Algeria Summons Malian Ambassador

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Thursday, the summoning of the Malian ambassador to Algeria, Mahaman Amadou Maiga, regarding the recent developments in the situation in that country. The Algerian Foreign Ministry stated: "Minister Ahmed Attaf reminded the Malian ambassador strongly that all of Algeria's historical contributions to enhancing peace, security, and stability in the Republic of Mali have always been based on three fundamental principles that our country has not deviated from." The summoning of the Malian ambassador comes in response to Bamako's summoning of the Algerian ambassador there, Lahouas Riach, in protest against Algeria's hosting of a group of Malian movements that have opposing positions to the military authorities in Mali.
