Singapore and Zurich, Switzerland have been ranked among the most expensive cities in the world. The positioning of the Swiss city, which was sixth last year, is attributed to the strength of the Swiss franc, rising grocery prices, household goods, and entertainment costs. Singapore also saw increases in transportation and luxury clothing prices. Although New York shared the first position with Singapore last year, the famous American destination, where prices rose by 1.9% according to the study, fell to third place, tying with Geneva, Switzerland. Hong Kong, the only other Asian destination in the top ten, ranked fifth, followed by Los Angeles in sixth place and Paris in seventh among the world's most expensive cities. Tel Aviv in Israel tied for eighth place with the Danish capital Copenhagen. It is noteworthy that the survey was conducted before the outbreak of conflict between Israel and Hamas in October. San Francisco ranked tenth, making it one of three American cities in the top ten.
