The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations reported that the global food price index fell in January to its lowest level in nearly three years, driven by decreases in the prices of some types of cereals and meats. The organization stated today, Friday, that "its price index, which measures changes in the prices of the most traded primary food commodities globally, averaged 118 points in January, down from 119.1 the previous month." The January reading is the lowest since February 2021.
