The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hossein Salami, vowed to reach what he referred to as the "enemy" everywhere, as tensions rise over key shipping lanes where Houthi rebels allied with Tehran are attacking ships in the Red Sea. During a ceremony in the coastal city of Bandar Abbas, where the Revolutionary Guard's navy unveiled a new ship named "Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis" along with 100 fast missile-launching boats, Salami stated, "Today we are facing a comprehensive battle with the enemy."
