The legal representative of the depositor Abdullah Al-Haj, lawyer and activist Wasef Al-Haraka, confirmed that Al-Haj is a depositor like others and has the right to retrieve his deposit. He pointed out that Al-Haj was one of the revolutionaries of October 17, losing an eye during that time, and he has the right to reclaim his deposit for any reason. However, there is an exceptional circumstance today as he is suffering from a health issue and is requesting his deposit, which does not exceed $4,800, to continue his treatment.
Al-Haraka emphasized that what Al-Haj wants today is simply his deposit, and it is natural for us to stand by him as it is his right to access his funds; the bank should act wisely and return the deposit to him. Moreover, Al-Haraka mentioned that several employees are still inside voluntarily, and negotiations are ongoing but are occurring in a very flawed manner. He warned that the bank is dealing dismissively with the depositor, who has no solution but to retrieve his deposit, which is his right.
