Observatory: This is the Hottest Month on Earth

The European "Copernicus" Climate Observatory revealed today, Tuesday, that last month was the hottest July ever recorded, with unusually high temperatures both on land and at sea. Scientists noted at the end of last month that it was on track to become the hottest month ever in the world. Copernicus Deputy Director Samantha Burgess stated that this year is the third hottest year so far. She added, "We have just witnessed that global air and ocean surface temperatures are setting new record highs in July." She emphasized, "This highlights the urgent need for ambitious efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions globally, which are the main driver behind these record numbers." The observatory, which bases its calculations on a dataset dating back to 1950, noted that June also broke the previous record for temperatures in that month. High temperatures have affected large areas of the planet, breaking records in California, the northwest of China, Canada, and southern Europe, which are struggling with wildfires.
