Moscow: We Do Not Interfere in Lebanese Affairs... What Satisfies You, Satisfies Us

Alexei Zaitsev, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, affirmed that Russia will never interfere in Lebanon's internal affairs, stating that the presidential vacancy is a domestic issue, and what satisfies the Lebanese will also satisfy Russia. Zaitsev said, according to TASS: "We operate on the premise that early elections for the President are currently a fundamental issue for Lebanon. We hope that the Lebanese can overcome all contradictions that hinder the resolution of this important internal political task, based on national consensus and a balance of interests among the leading political factions and sects in Lebanon. We do not prefer one figure over another, nor do we intend to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries." He emphasized that it is the Lebanese who alone decide who will assume the presidency.
