A U.S. official revealed to Reuters that Canada, Brazil, and Egypt will announce new rules for methane at the climate summit "COP28" taking place in Dubai later today, Monday. As of today, 155 countries have signed onto the global methane pledge, a voluntary partnership that commits countries to collectively reduce methane emissions by 30 percent from 2020 levels by 2030. Countries must now clarify how they can achieve this goal. U.S. Special Climate Envoy Rick Duke stated to Reuters, "What we are seeing at the COP (COP 28) focuses on implementation."
