Samuel Werberg, spokesperson for the US State Department, revealed in an exclusive interview with "Sky News Arabia" the reasons behind the enhancement of the US military presence in the Middle East following the announcement of additional air defense systems being sent to the region. Werberg stated that the deployment of aircraft carriers, defensive systems, and other weapons aims to deliver a "clear message to Iran, Hezbollah, and any party looking to exploit the current situation."
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has raised American concerns about the potential expansion of military confrontations in the region and the involvement of third parties in the crisis, which threatens to worsen conditions.
The US State Department spokesperson added, "We are concerned about any escalation in the region right now, and we have certainly seen time and again how Iran and Hezbollah take advantage of this situation." He continued: "Yes, we want to send a clear message to allies and partners that we have the capability to protect ourselves and our allies and partners."
Werberg emphasized that the clear American message is that the United States can deliver a "decisive response" to any attacks against its interests or those of its allies in the region. The US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, announced on Sunday that the United States would send additional air defense systems to the Middle East.
