Lebanese Security Forces Arrest Drug and Counterfeit Currency Dealer on the Bekaa-North Route

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "As part of the continuous monitoring efforts by the Internal Security Forces to reduce crimes across various Lebanese regions and pursue those involved to arrest them, information was received by the Information Branch regarding an unknown individual transporting drugs and counterfeit currency from the Bekaa region to the North. As a result of intensive investigations and inquiries, they were able to identify the suspect, named M.H. (born in 2007, Syrian). On September 4, 2023, after precise surveillance, one of the patrols was able to apprehend him red-handed in the area of Qammou’a, riding a black motorcycle without license plates, which was confiscated. Upon searching him and the motorcycle, 9.525 kg of hashish, 625 grams of cocaine base, 4,452 pills of the drug 'Captagon', counterfeit money amounting to $9,800, and a mobile phone were found." The statement added: "During the investigation, he confessed to the charges of transporting drugs and counterfeit currency from the Bekaa to the North, stating he was in the process of delivering them to the town of Mshmash. The motorcycle was legally seized, and the necessary legal actions against the detainee were carried out, and he was referred along with the confiscated items to the relevant authority, in accordance with the directives of the competent judiciary."
