UK Successfully Tests Cost-Effective Laser Weapon

The United Kingdom has successfully launched a high-powered laser weapon at an aerial target for the first time as part of a trial of the new weapon. It is hoped that this test will pave the way for the development of a low-cost alternative to missiles used to intercept targets such as drones. The British Ministry of Defence stated that the new laser weapon, "Dragonfire," is precise enough to hit a coin (like a pound coin) at a distance of one kilometer. The test, conducted in the Hebrides region of Scotland, was described as a "significant step" toward the integration of this technology into service.
