Akrm Halabi Elected as First Vice President of the Asian Federation

Akrm Halabi, President of the Lebanese Basketball Federation, has been re-elected as the First Vice President of the Asian Federation for a second consecutive term of four years, having first assumed the continental position in June 2019. His re-election to this significant role was unanimous, reflecting trust in his character, diligent work, and clear contributions to the development and success of Lebanese basketball at both local and international levels.

Halabi, born in 1968, has been leading the Lebanese basketball federation since July 2018 and was re-elected in December 2020. Over the past five years, he has guided Lebanese basketball to numerous successes, including the qualification of three national teams (men's, under-18, and under-16) for the World Cup, marking an unprecedented achievement for Lebanese basketball. Additionally, the women's team qualified for the elite level in Asia, and the men's team secured the title in the Arab tournament last year.

Halabi and the members of the Lebanese Federation's administrative committee are noted for regularly organizing international training courses for coaches and referees, as well as managing annual tournaments across all categories for both men and women. They also facilitate competitions for all age groups for boys and girls, training that has garnered significant attention and large crowds during matches, particularly during finals. This initiative aims to ensure the sustained excellence of the sport and its long-term success.
