Saudi Arabia Seizes Captagon Hidden in Cheese Covered with Za'atar

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority in Saudi Arabia successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 130,635 Captagon pills, which were found hidden in a vehicle coming into the Kingdom through the Al-Haditha border crossing.

The authority explained that "during the inspection process of one of the vehicles entering through the Al-Haditha crossing, this quantity of Captagon pills was found concealed in boxes containing cheese covered with za'atar, by hiding them inside cheese pieces."

It was reported that "after the control operation was completed, coordination was made with the General Directorate for Drug Control to ensure the arrest of those receiving the seized items within the Kingdom, resulting in the detention of two individuals."

The authority affirmed that it is "continuing to enforce customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports and remains vigilant against attempts by smugglers, aiming to ensure the safety of the community and protect it from these scourges."

It called for "contributing to the fight against smuggling to protect the community and the national economy by communicating with it, as it receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs System in complete confidentiality, with a financial reward for the informant in case the information is accurate."
