The Greek Coast Guard announced today, Wednesday, the rescue of 57 migrants and the recovery of two bodies, a woman and a man, near a rocky beach on the island of Lesbos. A spokesperson for the Coast Guard stated that the migrants arrived on the shore on Monday evening amid bad weather and strong winds in the Aegean Sea, adding that another person is believed to be missing. Greece was at the heart of the migrant crisis in 2015 when over a million people, mostly Syrian refugees, crossed from Turkey to its shores by sea. The influx significantly decreased before rising again last year.
