Deputy Leader of the Lebanese Forces Party, Deputy George Adwan, indicated today Tuesday that "the session held by the Administration and Justice Committee, attended by the deputy governors of the central bank, is important to determine whether the four deputies are heading towards resignation and to hold them accountable for this step." Following the meeting, Adwan said: "Their response was clear regarding their issuance of the statement to emphasize the need for a serious treatment of the situation through a meeting with the government, to build on what is required." He added: "The deputies confirmed that they have repeatedly expressed their dissatisfaction with the actions of Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh, but without being heard, and they do not want the governor's term to end with them being asked to do something they do not agree with." Regarding the succession of First Deputy Wassim Mansouri to Salameh, Adwan pointed out that "Article 25 of the Currency and Credit Law is clear regarding the First Deputy assuming the governor's responsibilities, and it became clear during the session that the deputies are willing to assume their responsibilities." He continued: "We will invite the Prime Minister or his delegate to a meeting next Thursday, for the deputies to present their plan to the government, and to agree on the next steps." Adwan clarified that he "will not preempt matters regarding the fate of the Sayrafa platform."
