Chinese Foreign Minister Warns Against Decoupling from China: "A Historic Mistake"

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned the West that it "will commit a historic mistake if it seeks to decouple from China in an effort to reduce risks." Wang stated in a speech at the Munich Security Conference, "Those who try to decouple from China in the name of risk reduction are making a historic mistake." His comments came amid calls that began last year from the United States and the European Union to lessen their reliance on China.
