Release of 132 Wildlife Species in Saudi Arabia's NEOM Reserve

The Saudi National Center for Wildlife Development, in collaboration with NEOM, has released 132 wildlife species in the fenced area of the NEOM reserve. This initiative aims to acclimate these creatures to their new environment before their eventual release into the wild. The release includes 80 Arabian Oryx, 12 Addax, 12 Nubian Ibex, and 28 Arabian Gazelles, as part of the center's program for the reintroduction of wildlife into their natural habitats.

The CEO of the center stated, "This current release at NEOM is an extension of a series of releases that the center has conducted in several nature reserves, as part of the center's program for breeding and redistributing endangered local species, restoring ecosystems, and enriching biodiversity in the Kingdom. This represents one of the initiatives of 'Saudi Green,' in line with the national strategy for environmental preservation and achieving the objectives of Vision 2030."

It is noteworthy that the NEOM reserve spans an area of 25,000 km², aiming to provide a balanced ecosystem and increase biodiversity through the development of various solutions and innovations and accelerating the adoption of technologies, through research partnerships, to address challenges threatening the planet, such as biodiversity loss and species extinction, thereby contributing to the protection of natural environments.
