A unit of the Moroccan Royal Navy rescued 56 illegal migrants of African nationalities off the coast of the city of Lagouira on Tuesday. The migrants were aboard a boat attempting to sail to the Canary Islands under difficult weather conditions. The General Command of the Moroccan Armed Forces stated in a statement today that these individuals were assisted and transferred to the port of Dakhla to be handed over to the relevant authorities for the usual procedures.
