After former minister Wael Abu Faour raised the issue of cancerous agricultural drugs being used in Lebanon, he announced that following his report and the topic’s exposure, he received information about other companies involved. He stated, "I withheld the names to give time for judicial and security authorities to act." Regarding how these pesticides were smuggled into Lebanon, he noted that "some enter through smuggling, and some through the Port of Beirut; soon we will open the file on negligence at the port." Abu Faour emphasized the need to withdraw these substances as an initial measure, "especially with the absence of a Food Safety Authority, which we need as a reference, despite the appointment of its head without its existence." He pointed out that "some were implicated in importing insecticides as agricultural pesticides, and some bear a forged indication of approval from the Ministry of Health, while others deceive the Ministry of Health."
